Monroe Health Center offers high quality healthcare services at an affordable price in Monroe County, WV and Craig County, VA.
Monroe Health Center has been serving the residents of Monroe and surrounding counties for over 40 years. We are continually changing to meet the healthcare needs of the community by expanding our services, facilities, and medical staff to
provide high quality healthcare.
Professionals consist of full-time, board-certified family practice physicians, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners and sixty various medical and administrative support staff located among the centers. The Monroe Health Center operates
two satellite sites in Peterstown, WV and Craig County, VA.
Wellness Centers have been opened in every school in the counties we serve. Children and staff are able to be seen by licensed healthcare professionals every day school is in session. Each Wellness Center is staffed by a family nurse practitioner
or physician assistant and a licensed medical professional.
In 2010 Monroe Health Center expanded services to include family dentistry at the Craig County Dental Center. Professional staff consists of a full-time board certified dentist, a full-time dental hygienist, and two full-time dental
Dr. Kent Jameson has been a resident of Monroe County since 1978 following completion of undergraduate training at Marshall University. He then attended the West Virginia School of Osteopathinc Medicine and graduated in 1992. Dr Jameson completed
his family medicine residency at East Tennessee University where he was chief resident his senior year. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine. His interests include spending time with family, horses, flyfishing and hiking.
Dr. Sophia Sibold joined Monroe Health Center as a full-time physician in March 2005. Dr. Sibold is also the Director of the Wellness Centers located in James Monroe High School, Mountain View Elementary/Middle and Peterstown Elementary /
Middle Schools. She graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and later did her internship as well as her residency in Family Practice in Corpus Christi, Texas. She and her husband Brad, along with their children, reside
Mark Clarkson, DO
Dr Clarkson joined the Monroe Health Center, Peterstown site in Nov. of 2015. He resides in Mercer County and completed his undergraduate courses at Bluefield State College. He graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed
Internship and Residency at Carilion Family Practice in Roanoke Virginia. He served as chief resident during his senior year in that program. He enjoys spending time with his family and is active in Church related activities. Other interests include
multiple projects at home.
Marie Jewell, DO
Dr. Jewell graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998 and completed her Family Medicine residency at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in 2001. She has experience in private and group practice
as well as urgent care settings. She lives in Caldwell, WV, with her husband, Dr. Noel Jewell, and their two children. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and treats patients in our walk-in clinic part-time.
Erica Dowdy, PA-C
Erica Dowdy, PA-C joined Monroe Health Center in September 2005. She graduated from WV University in 2002 with a Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology. Erica later received her Physician Assistant Degree from Mountain State University in
Beckley, WV. She is originally from Nettie, WV and now resides in Lewisburg.
Tina Howard, FNP-C
Tina Howard, a Family Nurse Practitioner, joined Monroe Health Center in 2015. Tina Howard was a critical care nurse for almost 20 years before deciding to return to college to obtain her license as a Nurse Practitioner. It is her goal
to help her patients make healthy life changes. The most important things in Tina’s life is her relationship with God, nurturing her family relationships and helping others. Tina resides in New Castle, Virginia with her husband Larry.
They have four children and one daughter-in-law. Life is an adventure and a blessing.
Galford Keri, PA-C
Keri obtained her undergraduate degree from Bluefield State College in 2009. She graduated from University of Charleston with a Master's degree as a Physician Assistant in 2013. She currently resides in Rock Camp with her husband, Kevin and son Kash.
Amber Harper, PA-C
Amber Harper PA-C joined Monroe Health Center in September 2010. She graduated from Concord University with a Bachelors Degree and later went on to pursue her Masters as a Physician Assistant from Mountain State University. She
has worked in Internal Medicine and Allergy & Asthma. She currently resides in Peterstown with her husband and two children.
Robin Johnson, FNP-BC
Robin Johnson, a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, joined Monroe Health Center in May of 2012. She graduated from Bluefield State College and became licensed as a Registered Nurse in 2004. She later graduated from
Marshall University with her Masters Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Robin is originally from Lindside, WV where she currently resides with her husband Kerry, son Tanner and daughter Kylee.
Elizabeth Wickline, PA-C
Elizabeth Wickline, PA-C joined Monroe Health Center in June 2017 as the James Monroe Wellness Center provider. She graduated from the University of Charleston in 2014 with her Bachelor of Science degree and graduated from the University of Charleston
in May 2017 with her Masters in Physician Assistant. Elizabeth is from Greenville, WV where she resides with her family
Donald Russ Villier, DMD
Dr. Russ Villier joined the Craig County Dental Center in June 2014. Dr. Russ is originally from a small town outside of Louisville, Kentucky. He attained a B.S. degree in Biology and Environmental Science from Hanover College before attending the
University of Louisville School of Dentistry where he graduated in 2014. Dr. Russ is a proud member of the National Health Service Corps, and he is excited to be part of the team at Craig County. He resides in Roanoke with his wife Julie and daughter
Charlie and enjoys hiking, cycling, and anything outdoors.
Angie Huffman, CDH
Angela (Angie) Huffman joined the Craig County Dental Center as a Dental Hygienist in September 2010. After graduating from Alleghany High School, she received her Associate in Applied Science Degree at Virginia Western
Community College in 1992. She has participated in the Mission of Mercy Project, school dental presentations, and community dental screenings. She and her husband reside on a farm in Craig County with their two children.
She enjoys spending time with her family, being active in her church, and horseback riding.
Terry, MS Licensed Psychologist
John Terry is a lifelong resident of Monroe Co. After graduating from Peterstown High School; he received his Bachelors in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College, and Master's in Psychology from Radford University. He was licensed
in 1989 and has been practicing over 30 yrs. He treats a variety of adult issues. His interests outside of work include church, family, and sports.
Tammy Showell, LCSW
Tammy holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from West Virginia University and a Bachelors Degree from Auburn University. She currently operates a private practice in downtown Lewisburg, WV in addition to working
with patients at Monroe Health Center. In the past, she served as an adjunct professor at New River Community and Technical College, teaching courses in Social Work and Criminal Justice. She specializes in treating
behavioral addictions such as problem gambling, in addition to the common diagnosis of depression and anxiety in both adult and adolescent populations.
